Mint Salon
Mint Hairdressers is an independently owned salon located on Northcote Road in southwest London. With a primary audience of young women aged 16 to 35, the salon sought a brand that radiates a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere while embracing a modern and feminine image. My initial designs were simple and modern, but considering the target audience for the brand was young women I thought a more free, hand draw approach would be more appropriate. I used an ink brush to draw the logo and then cleaned up the design in Illustrator. The colour scheme is also vibrant and fun, these colours would also be the basis of the colour scheme used to decorate the salon.

Mint had a small square footage so it was important to use the space efficiently, but we also wanted it to have a bright and airy feel. We decided not to obstruct the entrance to the back area, to elongate the space and the mirrors were also placed in the centre, back to back to free up space on the walls for storage. We used Coir matt to the lobby area, stained pine floor set in pattern, peach floor tiles matching the walls and ceiling.
The difference in floor texture helped to divide the space without creating a visual block. The external Windows and doors are highlighted in a pop of colour, feminine hand painted text on the glazing, fence with signage facing Northcote Road on the side return.
